“Cha Cha Real Smooth” (2022)
“Cha Cha Real Smooth” will warm your heart at the same time it rips it out, it is beautiful at times and had me laughing with never even feeling it was trying, and it did all that, going really deep into some dark subjects.
The comedy of the movie is just so organic; it feels like it just flows out and never like its lines designed to make me laugh; this gives me more time for us to connect with the characters and care about them; there is not one character in this movie that somehow you don’t care about, even the character played by Dakota Johnson that in my eyes acts really wrong.
Still, I don’t think I am still at a point in my life to understand her and her motivations fully; she has terrible decisions and feels selfish because she never thinks about how it affects all around her, but at the same time she feels very lost and that all she is doing not even her agrees with.
Cooper Raiff just won a fan now; I didn’t realise until the end of the movie that this brilliant actor was also the brilliant director behind this movie; he gives it all a sense of authenticity in front and behind the camera and how beautifully he addresses the autistic young girl and how it affects the lives of everyone around her is just masterful.
This is a simple movie, and because of that, it might slip under the radar, but believe me, it is a must-watch movie.
