“Air” (2023)
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are incredible artists in their own right, but there is just something magical when they are on the same project, especially when it’s a project they both believe in and have a personal attachment to it like this one.
“Air” is the kind of movie that, from the get-go, has a considerable advantage, the story is just incredible, and it’s real; it’s insane because of the importance this moment had in the life of so many; on top of that, it’s filled with interesting characters that are cast to perfection, there are no weak links.
Even knowing many people helped him with notes to the script and that bits are added to it, this is an impressive job by Alex Convery; on his first script, he delivered an exciting and powerful script that never lets us feel bored even when they are talking just about shoes.
Ben Affleck is a genius behind the camera, but he also killed by playing the iconic Phil Knight; he is hilarious and being a fan of the real guy, I can say Ben captures his essence perfectly, Knight in the movie says he thinks he will be remembered and even dought not at the level of Michael Jordan I agree he will, and this movie will help.
Matt Damon character is and should be an inspiration to all of us; the way he believes and goes after what he believes is something we all should take in, and Damon plays it perfectly; this is actually a role we see Damon is having fun and is proud to play and when you have him in those conditions he shines.
Everyone in this movie fits the role to perfection Jason Bateman is great,
Chris Tucker doesn’t have much to do but does a great job, Chris Messina is hilarious, but it is Viola Davis in her tiny role that steels the attention every time she is on screen, Viola is a force of nature, and she does that again absolutely clear.
What did not work for me was that it felt rushed by the end, it all felt a bit too easy by the end, the risk and achievement this group of people did was so monumental, and by the end, it felt like it was another day in the office,
Still, Matt and Ben take a leap and fly high with this incredible story about taking a shoot at what you believe, and We are really excited to see what else comes out of their new production company Artists Equity because they just started with a bang with this movie.
