I was not expecting all the pieces to fit perfectly, but for me, “Tetris” was just incredible, not only because of the crazy story but the fresh and fun way they decided to approach it.
Using some of the visual languages of Tetris and vintage games added a new layer to it all, making it fun to watch.
So glad to see Jon S. Baird giving us another cool and fresh movie, something he didn’t do for 10 years since “Filth”, and just like that movie that had a fantastic James McAvoy that infected the movie with his talent, this has an outstanding Taron Egerton that by now should be no surprise how talented he is.
Egerton’s character is charming; there are times that he is so over his head that you just start having panic attacks, but you just can’t stop rooting for him; even if he is not always 100% pure, he is still the best person from all the bad ones.
I was a big Tetris player; apart from Super Mario we talk recently, Tetris was my addiction, but there was no way I would ever imagine the crazy story behind its creation, this movie has so many twists and turns, but by the end, you just can’t finish it with a smile.
I know that just like any “inspired by a true story” movie many elements of it will be just BS; still, I believe these movies, when done right, can inspire people; the never give up attitude shown by Egerton character and how Alexey Pajitnov just wanted to share his game with the world and risked it all to do what he believed to be right really inspired me.
Have you seen this movie?
What other crazy story behind something we all know you think should turn into a movie?
