“Fast X” (2023)
After ten movies, you might think that nothing else can be done to make you shake your head in disbelief at the screen. Well, get ready for 142 minutes of shaking your head in “Fast X”.
“Fast X” makes the space scene in Fast 9 look grounded, but Momoa makes it a blast.
Don’t get me wrong, since Fast 5, I’ve come to expect ridiculous stunts that belong in a superhero movie, and that’s exactly what I got. It was loads of fun. Sadly, everything between these scenes lets the movie down.
To call this a weak script would be an overstatement. Yes, they make some fun connections with the previous movie, and I do feel they’re setting up something big for the last two movies. But the actual dialogue is just horrendous. I actually think Vin Diesel has better lines as Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy than in this.
But there is an exception, a big exception: Jason Momoa. Momoa not only steals the show in every scene he’s in, but he also steals the entire franchise and becomes the most interesting and charismatic character in the Fast Universe.
He is hilarious but still menacing, and the scene where he is painting the nails of two dead bodies deserves to be in a better movie.
Momoa makes “Fast X” interesting and funny, but he’s not enough to make it a good movie. Louis Leterrier’s style makes it look almost like a video game, and I still think he was a step down from Justin Lin.
But in the end, this is what made the Fast franchise a billion-dollar franchise. This is what the fans love: the silly action, the crazy stunts, and the Fast X cast, the “Family” that keeps growing with every movie and bringing more and more crazy characters, with Momoa topping all of them.
I also loved that we, Portuguese fans, not only got a Portuguese actress joining the family with Daniela Melchior (who, for some reason, is playing a Brazilian), but we also got one of the significant scenes happening in Portugal. It’s only right since we Portuguese have always made the Fast movies the most-watched movies in our country.
What is your favourite Fast and Furious character?
Will Fast X be the last?
Hmm it looks like your website ate my first
comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just
sum it up what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to the whole thing.
Do you have any suggestions for novice blog writers? I’d genuinely appreciate it.
Hey!
Write about what you love! It comes through when you are passionate about a topic, making the paper more driven. I would also like to mention that you need to stick to your opinions even if people disagree; for example, there are many films that we love but did terribly in the ratings (or the other way around), but we stick to our guts and tell the truth. Audiences can detect authenticity, which makes them want to read your work more because it shows your humanity and, more importantly, a different view from everyone else.
I hope these tips helped!
