href=\"https:\/\/letterboxd.com\/film\/speak-no-evil-2022\/\">Speak No Evil<\/a>, and boy, did it leave a lasting impression. Fast forward to 2024, and here we are again, watching <a href=\"https:\/\/letterboxd.com\/blumhouse\/\">Blumhouse\u2019s<\/a> highly anticipated remake. This full-circle moment was exciting, though I\u2019ll admit, I approached it with a bit of skepticism.<br><br>Speak No Evil was hands down one of our favorite films of 2022. It creeped us out to the core because of how disturbingly \"real\" it felt. So, when I heard about the American remake, I was worried. Could they capture that same raw, unsettling vibe? I knew an American production might not go as dark as the original, and that made me curious but also cautious.<br><br>The original Speak No Evil hits you like a gut punch\u2014there\u2019s no walking out of the theater with a smile. The emotional weight lingers long after. The remake, however, plays out a little differently. It\u2019s more predictable, but thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/letterboxd.com\/actor\/james-mcavoy\/\">James McAvoy\u2019s<\/a> stellar performance, you still leave the theater satisfied, albeit in a completely different way.<br><br>McAvoy has mastered the art of making the ordinary feel unnerving. Ever since <a href=\"https:\/\/letterboxd.com\/film\/split-2016\/\">Split<\/a>, he\u2019s brought this minimalistic, creepy energy to his roles, making them feel sinister without overdoing it. He continues this trend here, delivering a performance that is equal parts subtle and menacing.<br><br>At its core, the story remains the same\u2014this horrifying situation could happen to anyone. What\u2019s changed are some character motivations and how they handle the events, which shifts the tone and the final outcome. The result is a fresh take that, while less impactful than the original, still delivers plenty of thrills.<br><br>While McAvoy shines brightest, the rest of the cast is right there with him. <a href=\"https:\/\/letterboxd.com\/actor\/mackenzie-davis\/\">Mackenzie Davis<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/letterboxd.com\/actor\/scoot-mcnairy\/\">Scoot McNairy<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/letterboxd.com\/actor\/aisling-franciosi\/\">Aisling Franciosi<\/a> feed off his energy, creating a strong ensemble that keeps the tension simmering. <a href=\"https:\/\/letterboxd.com\/actor\/alix-west-lefler\/\">Alix West Lefler<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/letterboxd.com\/actor\/dan-hough\/\">Dan Hough<\/a>, the two young stars, grow into their roles, making the film\u2019s twists even more believable.<br><br><a href=\"https:\/\/letterboxd.com\/director\/james-watkins\/\">James Watkins<\/a> was an intriguing choice as director, and after watching the film, I understand why. This version is a different beast from Christian Tafdrup\u2019s original, tailored more for an American audience. Watkins brings his own set of skills to make this remake not just a copy, but an engaging reimagining.<br><br>In the end, I\u2019d still say the original packs a bigger punch, but this remake is no slouch. It\u2019s a fun, thrilling ride that stands on its own merits.<br><br>So, what\u2019s your take on remakes? -->\n<p>Hace dos a\u00f1os, en @motelx, nos sentamos a ver la versi\u00f3n original de <em>Speak No Evil<\/em>, y vaya que dej\u00f3 una impresi\u00f3n duradera. Avancemos r\u00e1pido al 2024, y aqu\u00ed estamos de nuevo, viendo el tan anticipado remake de Blumhouse. Este momento de ciclo completo fue emocionante, aunque debo admitir que me acerqu\u00e9 con un poco de escepticismo.<br><br><em>Speak No Evil<\/em> foi, sem d\u00favida, um dos nossos filmes favoritos de 2022. Ele nos perturbou profundamente por causa de como parecia incrivelmente \"real\". Ent\u00e3o, quando ouvi falar sobre o remake americano, fiquei preocupada. Conseguiriam capturar essa mesma vibe crua e perturbadora? Sabia que uma produ\u00e7\u00e3o americana talvez n\u00e3o fosse t\u00e3o sombria quanto o original, o que me deixou curiosa, mas tamb\u00e9m cautelosa.<br><br>O original <em>Speak No Evil<\/em> te acerta como um soco no est\u00f4mago\u2014n\u00e3o tem como sair do cinema sorrindo. O peso emocional permanece com voc\u00ea por muito tempo depois. O remake, no entanto, segue por um caminho um pouco diferente. \u00c9 mais previs\u00edvel, mas gra\u00e7as \u00e0 atua\u00e7\u00e3o impressionante de James McAvoy, voc\u00ea ainda sai do cinema satisfeito, embora de uma maneira completamente diferente.<br><br>McAvoy dominou a arte de fazer o comum parecer inquietante. Desde <em>Fragmentado<\/em>, ele traz essa energia minimalista e sinistra aos seus pap\u00e9is, tornando-os assustadores sem exagerar. Ele continua essa tend\u00eancia aqui, oferecendo uma atua\u00e7\u00e3o que \u00e9 tanto sutil quanto amea\u00e7adora.<br><br>Em sua ess\u00eancia, a hist\u00f3ria permanece a mesma: essa situa\u00e7\u00e3o aterrorizante poderia acontecer com qualquer um. O que mudou foram algumas motiva\u00e7\u00f5es dos personagens e como eles lidam com os eventos, o que altera o tom e o desfecho final. O resultado \u00e9 uma abordagem nova que, embora menos impactante que o original, ainda oferece uma boa dose de tens\u00e3o.<br><br>Embora McAvoy brilhe mais, o restante do elenco tamb\u00e9m est\u00e1 \u00e0 altura. Mackenzie Davis, Scoot McNairy e Aisling Franciosi alimentam-se de sua energia, criando um conjunto s\u00f3lido que mant\u00e9m a tens\u00e3o no ponto certo. Alix West Lefler e Dan Hough, os dois jovens atores, crescem em seus pap\u00e9is, tornando as reviravoltas do filme ainda mais cr\u00edveis.<br><br>James Watkins foi uma escolha intrigante como diretor, e depois de ver o filme, entendo por qu\u00ea. Esta vers\u00e3o \u00e9 uma besta diferente do original de Christian Tafdrup, mais voltada para o p\u00fablico americano. Watkins traz suas pr\u00f3prias habilidades para fazer deste remake n\u00e3o apenas uma c\u00f3pia, mas uma reimagina\u00e7\u00e3o envolvente.<br><br>No final, ainda diria que o original tem um impacto maior, mas este remake n\u00e3o fica muito atr\u00e1s. \u00c9 uma experi\u00eancia divertida e emocionante que se sustenta por seus pr\u00f3prios m\u00e9ritos.<br><br>E voc\u00ea, o que acha dos remakes? -->\n<p>Hace dos a\u00f1os, en @motelx, nos sentamos a ver la versi\u00f3n original de <em>Speak No Evil<\/em>, y vaya que dej\u00f3 una impresi\u00f3n duradera. Avancemos r\u00e1pido al 2024, y aqu\u00ed estamos de nuevo, viendo el tan anticipado remake de Blumhouse. Este momento de ciclo completo fue emocionante, aunque debo admitir que me acerqu\u00e9 con un poco de escepticismo.<br><br><em>Speak No Evil<\/em> fue, sin duda, una de nuestras pel\u00edculas favoritas de 2022. Nos perturb\u00f3 hasta lo m\u00e1s profundo por lo incre\u00edblemente \"real\" que se sent\u00eda. As\u00ed que, cuando escuch\u00e9 sobre el remake americano, me preocup\u00e9. \u00bfPodr\u00edan capturar ese mismo ambiente crudo e inquietante? Sab\u00eda que una producci\u00f3n estadounidense tal vez no ir\u00eda tan lejos como la original, y eso me causaba curiosidad, pero tambi\u00e9n cautela.<br><br>El original <em>Speak No Evil<\/em> te golpea como un pu\u00f1etazo en el est\u00f3mago: no sales del cine con una sonrisa. El peso emocional se queda contigo mucho tiempo despu\u00e9s. Sin embargo, el remake se desarrolla de manera un poco diferente. Es m\u00e1s predecible, pero gracias a la impresionante actuaci\u00f3n de James McAvoy, a\u00fan sales del cine satisfecho, aunque de una manera completamente distinta.<br><br>McAvoy ha dominado el arte de hacer que lo ordinario se sienta inquietante. Desde <em>Split<\/em>, ha tra\u00eddo esta energ\u00eda minimalista y escalofriante a sus papeles, haci\u00e9ndolos sentir siniestros sin exagerar. Contin\u00faa esa tendencia aqu\u00ed, ofreciendo una actuaci\u00f3n que es tanto sutil como amenazante.<br><br>En esencia, la historia sigue siendo la misma: esta situaci\u00f3n tan aterradora le podr\u00eda pasar a cualquiera. Lo que ha cambiado son algunas motivaciones de los personajes y c\u00f3mo manejan los eventos, lo que altera el tono y el desenlace final. El resultado es una versi\u00f3n fresca que, aunque menos impactante que la original, a\u00fan ofrece bastantes emociones.<br><br>Si bien McAvoy brilla con fuerza, el resto del elenco est\u00e1 a su altura. Mackenzie Davis, Scoot McNairy y Aisling Franciosi se alimentan de su energ\u00eda, creando un conjunto s\u00f3lido que mantiene la tensi\u00f3n al m\u00e1ximo. Alix West Lefler y Dan Hough, las dos j\u00f3venes estrellas, crecen en sus roles, haciendo que los giros de la pel\u00edcula sean a\u00fan m\u00e1s cre\u00edbles.<br><br>James Watkins fue una elecci\u00f3n intrigante como director, y despu\u00e9s de ver la pel\u00edcula, entiendo por qu\u00e9. Esta versi\u00f3n es una bestia diferente a la original de Christian Tafdrup, adaptada m\u00e1s para una audiencia estadounidense. Watkins aporta su propio conjunto de habilidades para hacer de este remake algo m\u00e1s que una simple copia, sino una reimaginaci\u00f3n envolvente.<br><br>Al final, todav\u00eda dir\u00eda que el original tiene un impacto mayor, pero este remake no se queda atr\u00e1s.
